My not-so-secret
About the Artist
Jeffrey Pergament was born in 1951 and has drawn ever since he discovered hand-held objects.

 

 

 

All children throughout the world make the same basic scribble patterns during the first 4 years of life. The same "stick figures" - the same circles, squares and triangles - the same faces and trees and sky and clouds. Sometimes, these efforts are positively reinforced; sometimes these efforts are retarded through harsh criticism and unfair comparisons to others. We are either nurtured or we are not.

 


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Human life is precious; something to be nurtured, to be loved divinely… Art is inherently human; nothing else can do “art”. Eye-hand coordination, imagination and translation of emotions through stimulated perceptions combine to offer the viewer a transcendental experience… Time and space are no longer controlled by the viewer; the manifestations of the artist, placed in a public arena, control the viewer, irrespective of the viewer’s preconceptions, prejudices and existing feelings, thoughts and emotions. This is the function of art – a cause/effect relationship between producer and consumer in the exchange of intangibles, sensory stimuli, the source of which may or may not be available for acquisition, yet once introduced into the environment, nothing remains the same…
